Calalzo di Cadore is a municipality located at 806 m above sea level, shortly after Pieve di Cadore, on the right bank of the Centro Cadore Lake. Surrounded by some impressive Dolomite peaks, such as the Marmarole mountain range and Monte Antelao, the town of Calalzo is popular with tourists both in summer and in winter. Immersed in a green basin, Calalzo is the ideal destination for those who love hiking: Val d'Oten, a suggestive valley that develops between Monte Antelao and the Marmarole Group, lends itself to pleasant walks and more difficult excursions among the rich vegetation . The Pile waterfall is very beautiful, reachable along a gully carved by the water. Finally, Calalzo is also the departure or arrival point of the Dolomites cycle path that connects it to Lienz (in Austria) passing through Cortina d’Ampezzo and Dobbiaco through the old railway, a splendid itinerary also suitable for children.
